Donation Questions

WHERE DOES THE MONEY THAT IS RAISED GO?

The funds from AIDS Walk & Run Boston go directly to AIDS Action and are used to provide services to people living with a diagnosis of HIV in MA. AIDS Action provides vital programs including: housing assistance, utility relief, transportation assistance, drug user health services, and legal help to our clients. AIDS Action has a strong education and prevention focus. We reach out to the most at-risk communities and neighborhoods in Massachusetts with information on HIV/AIDS risk factors and prevention methods. WHERE DO I MAIL DONATIONS?

Donations should be mailed, along with a gift form (hyperlink to Fundraising Page) to AIDS Action, Attn: AIDS Walk & Run Boston, 75 Amory Street, Boston, MA 02119.

WHAT IS AIDS ACTION'S EIN?

AIDS Action is the public health division of Fenway Health. Fenway Health’s tax ID number is 04-2510564.

IS MY INFORMATION SECURE?

Yes. Engaging Networks, the company that AIDS Walk & Run Boston uses to store our Walk data, has made every effort to protect your information. They use industry-standard SSL encryption techniques to make sure that your credit card information, passwords, and personal information travel securely over the Internet. They have also installed an encryption engine on our database server so that your data is securely stored.

HOW IS MY CREDIT CARD NUMBER HANDLED?

Credit card numbers are not stored in our database. During the donation process, we send your credit card number to an online processing terminal using a secure connection

FUNDRAISING QUESTIONS

IS THERE A MINIMUM AMOUNT I NEED TO FUNDRAISE IN ORDER TO WALK?

There is no minimum fundraising goal in order to participate in AIDS Walk & Run Boston. However, there is a $15 jump start fee which serves as your self-donation to get the momentum going!

DO YOU HAVE INFORMATION I CAN USE TO HELP ME FUNDRAISE?

Absolutely! The email templates available on your Participant or Team Page should help you ask for donations. You can also get great ideas for how to fundraise from our Fundraising Toolkit! We’re happy to connect with you personally as well. Contact Us

HOW DO I CHANGE MY PERSONAL FUNDRAISING GOAL?

Log into your Participant Page. Click the pencil icon next to your fundraising goal. Enter your new goal. Click update!

HOW CAN I SEE WHO HAS DONATED TO ME?

Donations will show below your fundraising goal on your Participant Page. You can export donations and thank donors by clicking Manage Page on the left hand side and then clicking Donations.

IF A DONATION WENT TO MY TEAM TOTAL INSTEAD OF TO ME, CAN IT BE CHANGED?

Yes! Please Contact Us and we will move the gift.

WHAT DO I DO IF A DONATION TO ME WAS MADE BUT IS NOT SHOWING UP ON MY PAGE?

Go to your dashboard and click the donations tab. If the donation is not showing up, Contact Us.

WHAT IS THE COWBELL CLUB?

The COWBELL Club is for individual participants who raise $2,500 or more for AIDS Walk & Run Boston. The COWBELL Club is entitled to special incentives such as entrance to the VIP breakfast, an express Registration area, recognition on the Walk website, dedicated fundraising support, and an exclusive gift.

WHAT IS THE EXTRA MILE CLUB?

The Extra Mile Club is for individual participants who raise $1,000 or more for AIDS Walk & Run Boston. Extra Mile walkers are entitled to special incentives such as entrance to the VIP breakfast, an express Registration area, recognition on the Walk website, dedicated fundraising support, and a special gift.

IS THERE A DEADLINE TO REGISTER FOR AIDS WALK & RUN BOSTON?

No, but we always encourage early registration to give yourself time to fundraise

HOW DO I CHANGE OR RESET MY USERNAME AND/OR PASSWORD?

You can also always click Forgot Username or Password when logging in. If you know your password but want to update it, log in and hover over your profile imageon the right hand side of the top banner. Click Profile. Enter your current and new password in the form on the right hand side and click Update password. You can change your contact information, including the email you use to log in using the form on the left hand side.

I WALKED LAST YEAR. CAN I USE THE SAME USERNAME AND PASSWORD?

Sure! However, because we have a new site, you will have a new page to personalize.

I’D LIKE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE WALK, BUT I CAN’T MAKE IT THAT DAY. WHAT CAN I DO?

Sign up as a Virtual Walker! You can have all the fun of the lead-up to the Walk and be there in spirit on the actual day.

CAN I CHANGE MY ANSWER TO REGISTRATION QUESTIONS (T-SHIRT SIZE, ETC.)?

HOW DO I REGISTER MY CHILD AS A WALKER?

When registering, enter the name/s of the family members joining you who will not be fundraising. This allows them to show up on your page and lets us know they will be attending, but we will not contact them about fundraising and they will not have their own fundraising page.

TEAM FAQS

WHAT IS A WALK TEAM?

A group of people who decide to raise funds together for AIDS Walk & Run Boston! A team can be any size, from 2 people to 200 people! Teams can represent schools, community, religious, social or fraternal organizations, businesses, families or friends.

CAN A TEAM HAVE MORE THAN ONE CAPTAIN?

Yes! It can be helpful to have more than one captain to help you recruit more team members and keep everyone motivated to reach your goal.

IF SOMEONE REGISTERS FOR AIDS WALK BOSTON AS AN INDIVIDUAL, CAN THEY STILL JOIN MY TEAM?

Yes! Please Contact Us and we can move them to your team.

WHAT IS A GOLD TEAM?

Gold Teams raise $10,000 or more for the AIDS Walk! On the day of the Walk, Gold Teams are recognized with their own personal team tents, shout-outs, access to the VIP tent, and fun gold goodies.

WHAT IS A SILVER TEAM?

Silver Teams raise $5,000 or more for the AIDS Walk! On the day of the Walk, Silver Teams are recognized with shout-outs, access to the VIP tent, and fun goodies.

WHAT IS A BRONZE TEAM?

Bronze Teams raise $2,500 or more for the AIDS Walk! On the day of the Walk, Bronze Teams are recognized with shout-outs, access to the VIP tent, and fun goodies.

Log in and click on your Team Page. The roster of team mates is listed towards the bottom of the page.  

5K RUN

WHERE AND WHEN IS THE 5K RUN?

The 5K Run takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2020. Run registration opens at 7:30 am at the Hatch Memorial Shell, and the Run begins promptly at 9:50 am. The Run takes place rain or shine!

HOW LONG IS THE RUN ROUTE?

The 5K Run is 5K (3.1 miles) long. There are two water stops located along the route, as well as refreshments located at the start and finish.

CAN I REGISTER ON THE DAY OF THE RUN?

Yes! Runners can sign up and pick up a bib number at the Run Registration tent. We suggest arriving early (check-in opens at 7:30 am) as the lines do get long.

WHERE DO RUNNERS CHECK IN?

Runners can check in and pick up a bib number at the separate Run Registration tent. We suggest arriving early (check-in opens at 7:30 am) as the lines do get long. You can also contact us (hyperlink to contact page) about early number pick-up.

WHERE DO RUNNERS DROP OFF CASH/CHECK DONATIONS ON THE DAY OF?

If you have pledge money to turn in, please do so at the Walk Registration tent.

HOW CAN I STORE MY BELONGINGS WHILE I AM RUNNING?

We provide a bag check at Run Registration.

DAY OF EVENT

WHERE AND WHEN IS AIDS WALK & RUN BOSTON?

AIDS Walk & Run Boston will take place on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at the Hatch Memorial Shell! Registration opens at 7:30 AM, and the Walk starts at 10:00 AM. The AIDS Walk will take place rain or shine!

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE OF THE DAY?

7:30 am    -   Registration and check-in open
9:00 am    -   Opening Ceremonies
9:50 am    -   5K Run starts
10:00 am   -   AIDS Walk Boston begins
10:30 am   -   Wellness Festival begins
11:00 am   -   5K Run Awards Ceremony
12:00 pm   -   Closing Ceremonies
1:00 pm    -   Closing Ceremonies conclude

HOW LONG IS THE AIDS WALK & RUN BOSTON ROUTE?

The AIDS Walk is 5k or 3.1 miles and should take approximately 1 hour to complete. There are refreshments located at checkpoints along the route.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME ON WALK DAY?

Friends and family! Any donations you have to turn in, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, a water bottle, water, snacks, and a raincoat or extra layer, weather permitting. You are also welcome to bring wheelchairs, strollers, and dogs on a leash. Please do not bring bicycles or skateboards.

CAN I BRING MY DOG?

Please do! We will have water and treats available.

PARTICIPANT PAGE & TEAM PAGE

WHAT IS A PARTICIPANT PAGE AND HOW CAN IT BE USED?

Your Participant Page is your central location for fundraising and tracking your progress. When you log in, you can view donations made to you, enter offline donations, email friends, supporters, and donors directly from your page, and share about the Walk on social media directly from your page. Sending people to your Participant Page is the easiest way to get donations! Personalize your page with your own photos and message.

WHAT IS A TEAM PAGE AND HOW CAN IT BE USED?

A Team Page is the central fundraising location for a team. Only the Team Captain can edit this page. Gifts to the team can be made on this page. However, gifts going to individual team members still need to be made to their Participant Page. From the Team Page, the Team Captain can email all team members, see donation information, track fundraising progress, email donors and supporters, and share items from the Team Page on social media.

HOW DO I UPLOAD A PHOTO TO MY PARTICIPANT PAGE OR TEAM PAGE?

Sign in to your account. On your personal page, hover your mouse over the camera icon in the left corner and click Change Picture. Click add Image. Upload the photo of your choice. Click Insert Image. You’re done!

 

CAN I CHANGE MY TEAM NAME, TEAM DIVISION, TEAM GOAL, AND TEAM PAGE CONTENT?

Only the team captain has the ability to change the team name or team division.

 
 

HOW DO I CHANGE A NAME ON THE FUNDRAISING HONOR ROLL?

From your Participant Page, click Donations and then the pencil icon next to the Send Thank You button. Enter the correct name and click Save.

HOW DO I ADD AN OFFLINE DONATION TO MY PAGE?

To add an offline donation, go to your dashboard and click donations. From there, click enter chash/checks and complete the form. The gift will show up on your fundraising scroll and thermometer.

IS MY ADDRESS BOOK PRIVATE?

Yes. No one else can view this even when your page is public.

HOW DO I UNSUBSCRIBE FROM E-MAIL?

Towards the bottom of each email message there is a link, labeled “Unsubscribe/Change Email”. Click on this link and follow the instructions given in order to unsubscribe.
